Chai Spiced Pear Scones with Maple Butter Glaze

Today I am sharing my tried and true recipe for buttery, crumbly Chai Spiced Pear Scones, topped with a delicious Maple Butter Glaze. The scone base uses only 6 simple ingredients and can be customized with seasonal fruits, making them a heavenly treat.
First, grab a mixing bowl and whisk together 1 & 1/2 cups of all purpose flour, 1/4 cup of cane sugar, 1/2 tsp of salt, 2 tsp of chai spice, and 2 tsp of baking powder. Then, finely dice 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp of salted butter. Add the butter to the flour mixture and mix using your hands. You want to incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients, and you should be left with a crumbly mixture. Then, pour in 1/2 cup of milk (I also will sometimes do 1/4 cup of milk and 1/4 cup of heavy cream instead of 1/2 cup of milk…these make them extra fluffy!). Stir until a shaggy dough forms. Transfer to a clean surface and work the dough until it’s smooth. Then, using your hands work in the sliced pears. Shape into a 1-2 inch thick circle. Slice into 6 triangles. Transfer to a lined baking sheet and bake on 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. While scones are baking, mix together the maple butter glaze: 1 tsp of vanilla, 3 tbsp of melted butter, 2 tbsp of maple syrup, and 3 tbsp of powdered cane sugar. Once the scones are done, top with the maple butter glaze and enjoy! Store in an airtight container on the counter for 3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week.
