To make curd:
1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1/2 cup of cane sugar.
2. Pour into a saucepan on medium heat along with 1/2 cup of citrus juice (lemon, orange, lime, etc.), 1 tbsp of citrus zest, and 1/4 cup of butter.
3. Whisk until well combined and keep stirring until it starts bubbling.
4. Once it starts bubbling, take it off the heat and let cool. Keep stirring every few minutes until it’s completely cooled.
5. Store in the fridge.
To make Rose Buttercream Frosting:
1. First, add 1/4 cup of milk and 2 tbsp of rose petals to a saucepan. Heat to low heat and bring to a simmer.
2. Once the milk is simmering, turn off the heat, cover, and let the rose petals infuse the milk. Let completely cool (about 1 hour).
3. Next, add 1/2 cup of softened butter, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 3/4 cup of powdered sugar, and the rose milk to a mixing bowl.
4. Whisk or use a hand mixer to mix until fluffy.
5. Use right away or store in the fridge.
