FALL SYRUPS FROM SCRATCH (Pumpkin Spice Syrup & Apple Cider Caramel)
10 mins prepServes 16
Two easy-to-make fall syrups from scratch: a pumpkin spice syrup and an apple cider caramel. Made with simple ingredients and perfect for enhancing fall drinks or desserts.
Pumpkin Spice Syrup Recipe: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of granulated sugar (I use coconut sugar, but cane sugar works as well), 2 tsp of a pumpkin spice blend, 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree, and 2 cinnamon sticks over low-medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer, and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring every minute or so. Turn off the heat and let cool completely before transferring to a pour spout container and storing in the fridge.
Apple Cider Caramel Recipe: In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of apple cider to a simmer over low-medium heat. Let this simmer for 30-35 minutes—this will reduce it and there should be about 1 cup left. Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar (again, coconut or cane sugar works) until fully dissolved. Then, stir in 2 tbsp of heavy cream, 2 tsp of vanilla, and 2 tbsp of cold butter. Stir together and bring to a simmer again over low heat. Let this simmer for 5 minutes, stirring every minute or so. Turn off the heat and let cool completely before transferring to a pour spout container and storing in the fridge. Note: this one might separate slightly in the fridge, just shake or stir before enjoying!
