10 mins prepServes 24
These homemade fall syrups, including a pumpkin spice and an apple cider caramel, are described as simple, fun, and superior to store-bought options. They are perfect for adding autumnal flavors to your favorite drinks.
For the Pumpkin Spice Syrup:
1. Add 1.5 cups of water, 1 cup of cane sugar, 0.5 cup of brown or coconut sugar, 2 tsp of a pumpkin spice blend, 0.25 cup of pumpkin puree, and 2 cinnamon sticks to a saucepan.
2. Stir together and bring to a simmer over low heat.
3. Let this simmer for 5 minutes, stirring every minute or so.
4. Turn off the heat and let cool completely before transferring to a pour spout container and storing in the fridge.
For the Apple Cider Caramel Recipe:
1. Bring 2 cups of apple cider to a simmer over low heat in a saucepan. Let this simmer for 35 minutes—this will reduce it and it should be about 1.5 cups left.
2. Then, stir in 1 cup of cane sugar and 0.5 cup of brown or coconut sugar until fully dissolved.
3. Then, stir in 0.25 cup of heavy cream, 2 tsp of vanilla, and 2 tbsp of cold butter.
4. Stir together and bring to a simmer again over low heat.
5. Let this simmer for 5 minutes, stirring every minute or so.
6. Turn off the heat and let cool completely before transferring to a pour spout container and storing in the fridge.
7. Note: this one will separate slightly in the fridge, just shake or stir before enjoying!
